"Featuring guitar for the first time in [Street Eaters'] illustrious history, Simple Distractions - from their new picture disc EP - precedes what will hopefully be a new full-length album from that terrific band"
--Gerard Cosloy, Matador and 12XU Records, Conflict Fanzine and Can't Stop the Bleeding Blog

"John and Megan (the young Fred and Toody of the East Bay) after a decade of rocking add a guitar and burn the whole fucking house down. This EP reminds me of everything I ever loved about Penetration (no pun intended) mixed with the more autobiographical and domestic elements of home confinement (i.e. the first single "Simple Distractions") . The thing i've always loved about the Street Eaters songwriting is that it always inspires the belief that the personal and the political are co- workers at the same shitty office (the office is America) and the two will switch name tags into infinity. I gladly welcome this new era of the band; the very slight shift that yielded a very muscular result."
--Brontez Purnell, author of 'Since I Laid My Burden Down' and '100 Boyfriends', Younger Lovers singer/guitarist

Video premiere for Simple Distractions in POST-TRASH - post-trash.com/news/2021/2/25/street-eaters-simple-distractions-post-trash-premiere

Simple Distractions is a new picture disc 7" by Street Eaters, a Bay Area post-punk band formed by Megan March (Drums, Vocals) and John No (Bass, Vocals.) Building on influences ranging from the anti-authoritarian writing of sci-fi author Ursula K. Le Guin to the discography of DC punk band Autoclave, Street Eaters have become an underground institution through years of non-stop touring and releasing albums on their own Nervous Intent Records imprint and several excellent European labels such as Contraszt! Records

The Simple Distractions EP is on Nervous Intent and has a limited pressing of 200 copies. It marks the debut of a 6-string guitar on a Street Eaters record, with guitar on three original tracks for this recording courtesy of Stevo (Tony Molina Band) and a special guest appearance by Marissa Paternoster (Screaming Females) doing vocals and guitar for a cover of Gang of Four's angular freakout "Love Like Anthrax"

Street Eaters' current guitarist is the amazing Joan Toledo, with whom they are writing and recording more new material right now for their forthcoming album

“While sometimes less is more (like the mighty Big Business), in the case of Street Eaters’ upcoming EP, Simple Distractions, the guitars are a welcome addition, bringing Megan March and John No’s rattled post-punkenergy to new sonic heights, while still maintaining the band’s fond Autoclave and Mission of Burma influences...Rooted in low end with a touch of feedback, [Simple Distractions] opens with a hypnotic pounding and a mysterious twangy kind of doom. The video captures what appears to be some of seance or unholy ritual… that could in actuality just be restlessness. Those newfound guitars really come storming in on the triumphant hook (that almost recalls Tuscadero at their most raw), and the primal rhythm is lifted right along with it."
